What can SHARKBITE HYDRATION do for me?

We help keep everyone well-hydrated, which is essential for maintaining overall health and supporting various bodily functions. Here are some benefits of staying hydrated:

  1. Regulates Body Temperature: Adequate hydration helps regulate body temperature through the process of sweating. Sweating is the body's natural cooling mechanism, and when you're well-hydrated, you're better able to regulate your temperature, especially in hot or humid conditions.
  2. Supports Physical Performance: Hydration is crucial for optimal physical performance. Dehydration can lead to fatigue, decreased endurance, and impaired strength. Maintaining proper fluid balance is especially important during exercise and physical activities.
  3. Cognitive Function: Water is essential for proper brain function. Dehydration can negatively impact cognitive performance, including concentration, alertness, and short-term memory. Staying hydrated may help support optimal brain function.
  4. Nutrient Transport: Water is a crucial component in the transport of nutrients throughout the body. It helps carry essential nutrients to cells and facilitates the absorption of these nutrients in the digestive system.
  5. Joint and Tissue Health: Proper hydration supports joint lubrication and can help prevent conditions like arthritis. It also aids in maintaining the elasticity of connective tissues.
  6. Digestive Health: Water is essential for digestion and the absorption of nutrients. It helps soften and move food through the digestive tract, preventing constipation and promoting regular bowel movements.
  7. Skin Health: Hydration plays a role in maintaining skin elasticity and preventing dryness. Proper hydration can contribute to healthier and more radiant skin.
  8. Detoxification: Water is involved in the elimination of waste products and toxins from the body through urine and sweat. Staying hydrated supports the kidneys and other detoxification processes.
  9. Prevents Dehydration: The most obvious benefit of staying hydrated is preventing dehydration, which can lead to a range of health issues. Dehydration occurs when the body loses more fluids than it takes in, and it can result in symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, and low energy levels.
  10. Heart Health: Adequate hydration helps maintain blood volume and supports cardiovascular health. It can contribute to healthy blood pressure levels and overall heart function.

Why do you have sugar in your drinks?

Well we only have 1g of natural cane sugar and 1g of stevia reb M (2g total sugars) The science shows that sugar increases electrolyte absorption. It makes the process more efficient. The other reason we have sugar is because of taste. Taste is extremely important to us  unlike other electrolyte drinks out there, we have a great refreshing taste!

Do hydration packs really work?

ABSOLUTELY, they are effective in replenishing electrolytes lost through sweating during exercise or illness. They help maintain proper hydration and electrolyte balance in the body, which is crucial for various physiological functions.

How much SHARKBITE can I drink in a day?

well it all comes down to sodium. The daily recommended sodium intake amount is 2300mg. As we focus on the overall absorption effectiveness we have less Sodium than other electrolyte drinks at 300mg. It also depends On the amount of activity you do. If you are doing nothing then stick to 4. But if you are running a marathon then you will need much more!

Doesn’t caffeine dehydrate you?

No. Caffeine in moderation doesn't dehydrate you, nor does it deplete the body of electrolytes.

Researchers reviewed 10 different studies on this and concluded…

“Caffeine consumption stimulates a mild diuresis similar to water, but there is no evidence of a fluid-electrolyte imbalance that is detrimental to exercise performance or health…

The scientific literature suggests that athletes and recreational enthusiasts will not incur detrimental fluid-electrolyte imbalances if they consume caffeinated beverages in moderation and eat a typical U.S. diet. Sedentary members of the general public should be at less risk than athletes because their fluid losses via sweating are smaller.”

Another study concluded that “caffeine increased oxygen uptake and energy expenditure, without increased ratings of perceived exertion.”

What is the benefit of the pink Himalayan salt?

It's more natural and unprocessed, it has trace minerals and does not contain additives. It's an all round better solution than conventional sodium in a drink.

What are some signs that you may be dehydrated?

  1. Thirst: One of the most straightforward signs is feeling thirsty. If you're thirsty, it's a signal that your body needs more fluids.
  2. Dark Yellow Urine: Dark yellow or amber-colored urine is a common indicator of dehydration. In a well-hydrated person, urine is usually light yellow or pale straw in color.
  3. Infrequent Urination: Reduced frequency of urination or a significant decrease in urine output suggests dehydration.
  4. Dry Mouth and Dry Skin: Insufficient fluid intake can lead to a dry mouth and dry, cool skin. In severe cases, the skin may become flushed.
  5. Fatigue and Dizziness: Dehydration can cause fatigue and feelings of weakness. Dizziness or lightheadedness may also occur.
  6. Headache: Dehydration may lead to headaches due to reduced blood volume and oxygen flow to the brain.
  7. Sunken Eyes: Dehydration can cause the eyes to appear sunken or hollow.
  8. Rapid Heartbeat and Breathing: In some cases, dehydration can lead to an increased heart rate and rapid breathing as the body tries to compensate for the reduced fluid volume.
  9. Muscle Cramps: Dehydration may result in electrolyte imbalances, leading to muscle cramps.
  10. Difficulty Concentrating: Inadequate hydration can affect cognitive function, making it challenging to concentrate and think clearly.

What are electrolytes?

Electrolytes are essential minerals with an electric charge that play a crucial role in various physiological functions within the human body. These minerals help regulate a range of bodily processes, including nerve and muscle function, fluid balance, blood pressure, and pH levels. The primary electrolytes in the human body include:

  • Sodium (Na+): Sodium is crucial for maintaining fluid balance and is a key electrolyte in the extracellular fluid outside cells. It helps regulate blood pressure and supports nerve and muscle function.
  • Potassium (K+): Potassium is the primary electrolyte inside cells and is critical for maintaining cellular function, nerve impulses, and muscle contractions. It works in opposition to sodium to maintain a proper balance of electrolytes.
  • Calcium (Ca2+): Calcium is essential for bone health, blood clotting, muscle contraction, and nerve function. It plays a key role in the transmission of nerve signals and the contraction of muscles, including the heart.
  • Magnesium (Mg2+): Magnesium is involved in numerous biochemical reactions in the body, including energy production, muscle function, and the synthesis of DNA and proteins.
  • Chloride (Cl-): Chloride works closely with sodium to help maintain fluid balance and plays a role in the body's acid-base balance. It is a component of stomach acid, aiding in digestion.
  • Phosphate (HPO4^2-): Phosphate is essential for bone and teeth formation, as well as for energy metabolism. It is also involved in the regulation of acid-base balance.

Each of these are in every single SHARKBITE HYDRATION drink.

What do electrolytes do?

Electrolyte balance is crucial for maintaining normal bodily functions. Imbalances, such as dehydration or overhydration, can disrupt the proper functioning of cells and organs. Electrolyte levels can be influenced by factors such as diet, physical activity, medications, and certain health conditions. In situations where there is a significant loss of fluids, such as during intense exercise or illness, replenishing electrolytes becomes particularly important to prevent dehydration and maintain optimal physiological function.

Does water alone have electrolytes?

The electrolyte content in plain tap water or purified water is usually minimal. In situations where your body loses electrolytes through activities like sweating or illness, simply drinking water may not be sufficient to replace them. In such cases, consuming electrolyte-rich foods or beverages, or using electrolyte supplements, can help restore the balance of these essential minerals in your body.
